My name is Ann and I am the founder of LifeMoxie! My family and friends will tell you that I actually started pursuing this dream 6 years ago with a passion to empower women, namely myself. People ask me where that passion comes from, and I realized that it developed out of my constant pursuit to find something or someone to empower ME. I spent the past 13 years reading books (everything from self-help to how-to's), attending seminars and workshops, utilizing life coaches, and adventuring (everything from riding my bike down the west coast to skydiving). I am convinced that feeling powerful is the key to leading a happy and fulfilling life, because it's hard to feel powerful and be a victim at the same time.
What qualifies me to teach you about how your economic power can give you a whole new life? My own life...
I earned an accounting degree, passed the CPA, earned a law degree, and passed the Bar exam to practice law in 2 states. I have spent the past 13 years advising entrepreneurs - as an attorney, an accountant, a board member, a business consultant, an educator, and a mentor. And in those 13 years, I've seen a lot of women struggle and suffer because of their lack of economic power. Many of them giving up on their goals and dreams. I have met many women with a desire to take control of their money or start making their own money, but they didn't know where to start or how to begin. When you consider that there are approximately 8 million businesses run by women, and that these businesses generate $2.3 trillion in sales, we should be inspired, not stopped. That's what we do at LifeMoxie! We inspire you to take on your life by taking on your economic power.
Professional Experience
I have worked at a Big 6 accounting firm (when there were 6), and 2 of the largest law firms in Silicon Valley. I have run legal departments in a start-up and a public company. I have launched my own law firm. I have taught 12 year old girls how to start and run businesses and how to be young women with economic power. I have advised entrepreneurs on tax issues, corporate law, funding, business structure, business ideas, employee issues, transactions and creating and executing on business plans.
The Girls' Middle School
Five years ago, I discovered a marvelous little all-girls middle school in Mountain View, California where all 7th graders are required to take a year of Entrepreneurial Education. How serendipitous! I am now in my fourth year as co-Director of the Entrepreneurial Program for the Girls' Middle School. I say that if 12-year olds can learn about personal finance, negotiating, writing business plans, starting their own businesses, designing and delivering products and services, generating their own income, budgeting, tracking financials, and learning how to present themselves, all while having fun, so can you! I created LifeMoxie! for those of us who missed this class in 7th grade... and again in high school, and again in college, and are now facing the final exam in life.
Book Smart. Life Challenged.
Looking back, over the past 13 years, I realize how many life experiences I had to go through to learn all that I learned about money and my life. Why did it take so long and why did it have to be so painful? Why is it that so many of us know so little about life or our ability to make it on our own or the importance of having economic power? What has been missing is an empowering place for us to access the advocacy to learn about economic power. With LifeMoxie! that place is now here.
LifeMoxie! is about indivduals seizing their lives with all the power, skills, passion and creativity that are their marvelous gifts! And now check out the outrageous team that has come together to assist us all in realizing these gifts...
